About - Timor Children's Foundation and Samaria Children's Home
Timor Children’s Foundation was established as a compassionate response to the needs of disadvantaged children in East Timor.
When Bob Mitchell went to East Timor in 2002, he met a woman, named Philomena, who had opened her heart and home to disadvantaged East Timorese children. However, she was struggling to make ends meet caring for her own family and the children she had taken in. When Bob returned to Australia he established the Timor Children’s Foundation to formally raise money to assist Philomena and the children in her care – since called Samaria (St Mary’s) Children’s Home.
Samaria Children’s Home cares for up to 30 children, of varying ages and backgrounds. The children in the home are either orphans, or their parents are unable to care for them. The Foundation supports Samaria by providing the funds needed to feed, clothe, educate and care for the children. For more information visit the link below.

About - Tour de timor
The Tour de Timor is an annual International Mountain Bike Race held in Timor-Leste. The event was first held in 2009 and was an initiative of the former President of the Republic, José Ramos-Horta, as part of his “Dili – City of Peace” campaign.
For Timor-Leste, sport is not just about exercise with social and health benefits, but it is also a crucial tool in peace building, youth engagement, education, gender equality and economic development. In this way sporting events like the Tour de Timor are also key to the development of the nation and to the well-being and livelihoods of Timorese.
The value of sport as a social connector is one of its most powerful development attributes. These sporting events connect individuals and communities across the bairo’s of Dili and the districts of Timor-Leste, as organisers, hosts, volunteers supporters and participants. Involving local representation and drawing out the best of Timor-Leste, these events serve as focal points for national pride, embracing and rejoicing in the natural and human assets of the country.
